Braintree Basketball Club
Coaches
The club is fortunate to have committed and experienced coaches for each age group. Each person brings their own unique style and personality to the training sessions but they are all united by the ethos of the club. Read below for a little information on each member.

U14’s Girls Coaches
Rebecca Swann & Emily Franklin
Coach Bex
I joined the club as a player back in 2015, at the age of 24, having not played since I was 17 years old. Instantly I fell in love with the sport that was a huge part of my life. Basketball has taught me that teamwork, hard work, dedication & patience were the key to success not only in sport but life. In 2023 the club gave me the opportunity to pass my knowledge and passion to the younger generation as a basketball coach. Being a coach has been so rewarding. It’s taught me resilience and has given me a sense of community. I can’t wait to keep building & developing our squads and inspiring young athletes as we go!
U16’s Boys Coach
Nick Turner
I started playing basketball in 1982 whilst at senior school in Colchester. I played throughout school and during my service with the British Army, but injuries forced retirement in 1997. I also completed my coaching in Germany in 1989. After 20 years away from the sport, I returned as my daughter showed an interest in playing, eventually her enthusiasm gave way to other interests but I continued and built the team up from 4 girls to entering into the Essex Women’s League.
U18’s Men’s Coach
Liam Musson
I have been a lifelong basketball fan after watching the original Space Jam movie as a child!
I have been involved with Braintree Blue Devils since it’s humble beginnings, joining as a player. After years of playing on and off, I came back to the club as a coach, taking on the U11s in 2018, and progressing with them until the present day.
I was elected Chairman in August 2021, and have worked to ensure the clubs ethos has remained integral to what we do and how we operate, whilst trying to develop the club and continue to grow.

Vice Chair
Alisha Palmer
Alisha has been with the club since 2013. She has played in our women’s team since then. She has also been one of our coaches since 2018 and is currently our U18 boys coach. She is also vice chairperson of the club.
She works as a security officer in aviation and loves spending her free time with friends and family.
Welfare Officer
Vicky Forster
Hi, I'm Vicky and I'm the Welfare Officer for the club. My children have been members of Braintree Devils for 5 years now and love every aspect of it - the training, the games and the friends that they've made. It really is a community and family-centred club and I would encourage anyone to give it a go, whatever their ability. Away from basketball I work full time as a secondary school teacher. My hobbies include reading, playing the piano and birdwatching. I particularly love buzzards and if I won the lottery I would open a buzzard sanctuary.
If you need to contact me regarding a welfare or safeguarding issue, my email is [email protected].
